Heading down to Melbourne for the opening of ‘Inversion’ on Tuesday. Here’s a few more images from the show at Edmund Pearce Gallery

'Inversion' was a finalist at Exposure 2014 which was cool. If anyone is in Melbourne during the week of 22nd July feel free to pop in and see the show at Edmund Pearce. Prints are 80x60cm and mounted on Dibond aluminium composite and will be displayed on the matt black walls of the ‘black gallery’

“Inversion marks a departure from my normal landscape based work and in to experimental still life. This series is an investigation into form and visual illusion using functional, mass-produced objects. By removing context – using a reflective surface that’s not immediately apparent and at times changing colours – I’m interrogating the duality of the real and the imagined, the prosaic and the beautiful. I’m also exploring the physicality of depth and space, re-evaluating both utilitarian aesthetic and function simultaneously.”
In 2 weeks I’m having an exhibition at Edmund Pearce Gallery, showing some experimental work that I’ve been developing, on and off, for the past 10 months or so. It’s a big departure from my normal work. Called ‘Inversion’ it opens Tuesday 22nd July 6-8pm and is part of the Nite Art week in Melbourne. Attached is the first image. I’ll post the statement and more images in the next few days.

Some more old medical documentation I found left in a tea chest.
Some old medical documentation from the Old Rehabilitation Hospital in Ryde. Some files date back to the early 1900’s when the hospital was called the ‘NSW Home For Incurables’.
Recently I was lucky to be invited to take part in a project with The Glue Society,  Sark Studios and the The Climate Council. Artists were asked to take a photograph that interpreted the theme The Human Environment using a Sark Studio shirt somewhere in the image. I chose to shoot a still life - this is the image. For those of you in Sydney the exhibition opens Tuesday February 18 at The Glue Society Studios, 6 Birmingham Street, Alexandria NSW 6 - 8.30pm The images are being auctioned to raise money for The Climate Council after the government withdrew funding.More info here www.artnewsportal.com.au/art-news/the-human-environment-an-exhibition-in-support-of-the-climate-council

Some notes about image usage ;-)

I’m happy for Tumblr folk to use my images from Flickr (sharing is caring!) but I just need to point out a few things.

1) As I have a Tumblr myself, can people please wait a few days (from date of upload to flickr) before posting new images of mine - I don’t always post here straight away and it’s a shame if someone has posted my new photo on Tumblr, before I have.

2) Please include links toTumblr (we all want traffic) and my website, as well as Flickr.

As I said more than happy for people to post my work.

Cheers, Chris
